Description
A piece of Rabun County history could be yours! No short term rental restrictions. This renovated 4 bedroom 2.5 bath home is only a few minutes from downtown Clayton. D. W. Johnson bought 300 acres between Clayton and Rabun Gap in the early 1900s. A retired Tennessee sheriff, he had the general area surveyed, and in 1907 he incorporated a town named Pass Over, since the road on which it was located passed over the eastern continental divide. By 1915 the town's name was changed to Mountain City. The Playhouse was known among locals and tourists alike for its square dancing on weekend nights. This homes also served as the first school for Mountain City until 1928. The porch is where people would meet and that is how the first Episcopal church was started in Rabun County. Enjoy moments spent on that same porch now screened in and making memories in the large flat yard. Upgrades and updated galore! Too many to list. Professional photos coming soon. A true piece of history could be yours!
